A 390 mm honey strainer of the «all diameter» type, made to rest on the mouth of a 100 kg honey tank.
It works at a mesh of 0.83-0.87 mm (830-870 µ): it holds back what should not be there without turning into a plug when the honey runs cold.
01 · COVERAGE
A mesh of 830-870 µ is honey-house straining, not laboratory filtration: it stops the wax, the cappings debris and the legs the honey carries out of the extractor. What it does not hold back — deliberately — are pollen grains, which measure 15 to 50 µ and pass through that mesh easily. That is the difference between cleaning honey and fine-filtering it: here the honey comes out clear of visible solids and keeps its pollen content.
02 · CLEANING
The «all diameter» format rests on the rim of the honey tank instead of fitting one single size, so it goes on and comes off without dismantling anything. Do not let it load up until the honey pools on top — the weight distorts the hoop and the strainer stops seating — and wash it as soon as you finish the batch, with hot water and before the wax cools on the mesh. Cold wax in an 830 µ mesh is a long session with a brush.
