Details of 65kg plastic honey tank with gate

White plastic honey settling tank with lid and bottom tap. Its usable volume with the lid on is 46.3 L, a commercial capacity of approximately 62–65 kg of honey, depending on density and fill level. It allows a batch to be left to settle and then bottled through the bottom tap without the need for a steel tank.

🍯 Allows honey to settle; does not filter or correct moisture content

Freshly extracted honey may contain bubbles, foam and small particles. During settling, some of these rise to the surface and can be removed before packaging. The result depends on viscosity, temperature, particle size and time. The settling tank does not replace a filter, nor does it address hygiene issues or excessive moisture in the honey.

⚠️ Test the tap with water before filling

Check the fit, tighten and seal with the container empty. Carry out a leak test and leave space to place the jar under the spout. Honey that is very cold or has crystallised flows less freely and may prevent the lid from seating properly; wipe away any drips and clean the spout before it crystallises. Do not use the filled container as transport packaging.

🧹 Documented food contact; prepare the container before filling

The PRIMO 46 container is made of polypropylene and has a declaration of conformity for food contact in accordance with the applicable European regulations. The manufacturer requires the user to assess and implement the appropriate hygiene procedure before the first filling and between batches. Avoid abrasives that may scratch the interior.

🏗️ Closed lid and odour-free storage

Honey is hygroscopic: keep the lid closed whilst the honey is resting and during storage. Store the settling tank in a cool, dry, clean and odour-free place, protected from sunlight and sources of heat that could warp the plastic. Identify each fill by batch; the vessel keeps the honey together, but traceability depends on your records.
