01 · FASTENING

Sleeves instead of a drawstring: why it matters

The classic round veil ties with a drawstring around the chest, and that drawstring is exactly what works loose when you crouch, lift a super or twist your body: the veil rides up and leaves your neck bare at the worst moment. This version has a fabric-and-mesh skirt with sleeves: you put your arms through and your own shoulders and armpits hold the skirt down, so the veil no longer moves on its own. Over a long inspection that difference matters more than anything else about a veil.

02 · USE

Worn with the suit, not over it

The sleeved skirt is meant to go under the suit or smock, so the suit you buy has to be the kind without a built-in veil. If you already own a suit with an integrated veil, this adds nothing. And like any bee protection, it lowers the risk without removing it: check the mesh before every outing, because a one-centimetre tear is a bee inside.
