Pack of 3 self-adhesive fibreglass mesh patches for small holes in a veil screen. They hold if you sandwich the tear: one patch outside and one inside, on clean dry mesh, pressing the whole perimeter, with a few stitches to finish the outline. It is a stop-gap: it does not replace a veil in good condition.

Details of Beekeeping veil repair patches, pack of 3 adhesive fibreglass mesh sheets

Pack of three self-adhesive fibreglass mesh patches to cover a small hole in a veil screen and finish the visit to the apiary.

It is a stop-gap repair, and it holds if it is put on properly. That is what decides whether it lasts a season or half an hour.

01 · HOW IT STICKS

Two patches, one on each face, and a few stitches

Veil mesh is an open weave: the adhesive grips the threads, not a continuous surface, which is why a patch fitted on the outside only ends up lifting. What holds is to sandwich the tear — one patch outside and another inside, facing each other — and, if the veil is to stay in service, to finish the outline with a few stitches. Before sticking, the screen has to be dry and free of wax and propolis. Cut leaving a margin over sound mesh, peel the backing paper slowly and press the whole perimeter, not just the middle.

02 · HOW FAR IT GOES

For a bramble snag, not for an open seam

It is meant for small holes and tears. If the tear is on a seam, if it forces you to cover the front field of vision, or if a gap remains after pressing, the veil is not fit to go into the apiary: the screen or the veil needs replacing. And cover only what you must — every square of mesh covered is visibility lost.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

You receive three sheets: enough for a couple of sandwiched repairs, and their place is the apiary toolbox.

⚠ NOT INCLUDEDVeil, replacement screen, thread or needle. You receive 3 adhesive sheets.
