White beekeeper’s trousers made from two layers of polyamide. The fabric is lightweight and has a smooth surface, making it harder for bees to cling to than a rough fabric; the elasticated waist and ankles help keep the garment in place during hive inspections.
The space between the layers provides some protection compared to a thin fabric pressed against the skin, but no garment can guarantee you won’t get stung. Wear the trousers loosely, avoid them being too tight across the knees and thighs, and ensure they fit snugly around your footwear. The ankles have elasticated cuffs, no zip.
Polyamide is comfortable for moving around, but can snag on scrub, brushwood and protruding wires. Keep your distance from a lit smoker: synthetic fabrics can be damaged or melt from a spark. Check for snags and holes before wearing it again.
