A pair of hook-and-loop straps to secure the join between trousers and boots. They cover the gap that appears when walking, crouching or lifting the trouser leg, and reduce the likelihood of a bee crawling inside your clothing.
Place the trouser leg over the top of the boot and wrap the strap around the join. It should secure the fabric without restricting circulation or preventing you from flexing your ankle. Take a few steps and crouch down before opening the hive: if the trouser leg slips out or there is a pouch of fabric, readjust the fastening.
Dust, mud, wax and stuck-on fibres reduce the fastening’s grip. Clean both sides and replace the strap if it comes undone easily. It is an adjustment aid, not independent protection or an absolute seal. When finished, fold each strap back onto itself and store the pair together so as not to lose them.
