01 · WHY ALUMINIUM

A mesh that keeps the gap

A mesh does not stop the sting; the air between mesh and skin does. Fabric gives way when you bend, and that is where the bee gets through. The aluminium mesh, in a square frame on the front and both sides, keeps that chamber in any posture and withstands years of rubbing without deforming.

02 · WHAT YOU SEE

It shines in the sun: look at eggs with your back to it

Aluminium is silver and in full sun reflects more than black mesh: eggs at the bottom of the cell are harder to see, as one review notes. Solved by looking at brood with your back to the sun, or with the square black fibreglass veil if hunting eggs is your thing. For everything else, the aluminium one sees plenty and lasts longer.

03 · HOW TO WEAR IT

Over a closed garment, skirt outside

It has no shirt: it goes over a closed jacket or suit, skirt outside and drawstring gathering the neck with no gap. Before going in, turn your head and bend over: the mesh must not touch nose or ears. One size, no head measurements published: try it on with your kit on.
