Detalles de MULTIPRO-VET – Live yeast gut support for bees

After a varroa treatment, after a strong disinfection, or when spring “runs” hit and you see diarrhoea stains on frames and at the entrance (the classic spring diarrhoea often referred to as Morbus majalis), the real question is not “what else do I feed”, but how do I help the gut recover without adding more stress.

MULTIPRO-VET is a liquid complementary feed made from molasses and live brewer’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). It looks simple, but the target is specific: supporting digestive recovery when there’s gut dysbiosis, impaired carbohydrate digestion, osmotic imbalance and a stressed gut lining after treatments, stress or infection.

How it works: the manufacturer confirms the yeast is alive. It does not permanently colonise the gut, but provides a functional probiotic/prebiotic effect while passing through. Yeast cell walls contain MOS and β-glucans. MOS can bind opportunistic pathogens, reducing their ability to attach to the gut epithelium and helping flush them out. β-glucans support local gut immunity and barrier function. Yeast cell walls can also adsorb toxins and irritating metabolites, which helps reduce watery stools and shortens recovery time.

On top of that, yeast provides nutritional support (protein, amino acids, B vitamins) plus trace elements such as zinc and selenium, useful for epithelial regeneration and enzyme function. Molasses is more than a carrier: it provides fast energy, improves palatability and helps deliver yeast effectively.

Honest positioning: MULTIPRO-VET is not a medicine and it does not neutralise chemical residues from treatments. It works through biological mechanisms (microbiota + barrier + adsorption + nutritional support). Healthier guts also mean bees clean up faster, instead of staying stuck in the diarrhoea-weakness loop.

Nosema note: the manufacturer reports cage tests showing that at day 20 post artificial infection, the treated group had about one third lower average spore load vs the control (83 × 106 spores/bee vs 116 × 106). It’s not positioned as their most specific Nosema solution, but as useful support, especially after the main approach.

When to use: after treatments (e.g., varroa), after disinfection/sanitation, during spring diarrhoea episodes, and whenever colonies are weakened and you want to restore digestion and gut balance rather than “plain syrup only”.

Very important: do not use chlorinated water.

Dosage by application (concentrations differ because bee access differs):

Feeder: 3 ml per 1 litre of sugar or invert syrup for 1 colony.

Fogging/spraying: 10 ml per 1 litre of syrup, spray full frames with bees and the inside of the hive (a garden sprayer works best for fine coverage).

Drinker: 1 ml per 1 litre of water.

Yield and sizes: a 125 ml bottle prepares 5 to 12.5 litres depending on concentration; the 1 litre size covers 40 to 100 litres; and the 5 litre can covers 200 to 500 litres. Available sizes: 125 ml, 1 litre and 5 litres.
