392 JARS PER PALLET: A LITTLE OVER 2 T OF HONEY | 3,895 ml THE GALLON: ABOUT 5.3 KG OF HONEY PER JAR |
TO110 THE WIDEST NECK IN THE RANGE: LIDS 3170/3171 AND 3230/3231 | 549 kg THE PALLET, AT 1.4 KG PER EMPTY JAR |
Full pallet of 392 Gallon jars of 3,895 ml, the largest container in the range: 159 mm across, 254 high and 1.4 kg of thick glass each, for about 5.3 kg of honey per jar and a little over two tonnes per pallet, which weighs about 549 kg empty. Twist-Off 110 neck, the widest in the catalogue: gold or black lids in a pack of 9 (3170, 3171) or a case of 270 (3230, 3231). No lids; the same jar in a pack of 5 (2434).
It is not a shelf jar: it is the container for moving bulk honey, supplying a workshop or selling by weight without a drum, which is why its neck lets a hand and a ladle through.
01 · THE JAR
Clear, thick glass, 159 mm across and 254 high, 1.4 kg empty: at 1.4 kg per litre it holds 5.45 kg of honey to the brim and about 5.3 with its headspace, so full it is over six and a half kilos. The 110 mm neck is what makes this size useful: it fills at full flow without a funnel and empties with a ladle or spatula when the honey sets. It serves just as well for olives, pickles and fruit in syrup from the workshop.
02 · THE NECK
The 110 mm Twist-Off neck is the only one in the range with that size: its lids come separately and no other jar’s fit. In the house, gold or black, in a pack of 9 (3170, 3171) to try and in a case of 270 (3230, 3231) for the pallet, a case and a half. It is the same lid as the 1,966 ml Half Gallon (2436, pallet 3311).
03 · THE PALLET
392 jars come palletised and shrink-wrapped, about 549 kg with pallet and cardboard, to bottle in the order of 2,000 kg of honey in under four hundred pieces, far fewer than the equivalent in kilo jars. It is the unit of the producer selling in bulk to workshops and shops or moving the crop without drums. It ships by pallet carrier, with truck access and a covered spot to unload; each full jar weighs over six kilos, so think of the space before the volume. To try, the pack of 5 (2434); in the family, the Half Gallon (3311) and the TO77 Quarter Gallon (3309).
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
The pallet of jars is supplied without lids; the TO110 lids (3170, 3171, 3230, 3231) come separately.
