Protein hydrolysate with amino acids and calcium pantothenate to dissolve into the syrup, not to feed on its own. The 500 cc bottle covers 15 litres: about 33 cc per litre. Add it once the syrup is back at room temperature. It supplements the liquid feed; it does not replace pollen.

MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE

Protein hydrolysate with essential and non-essential amino acids, enriched with calcium pantothenate, to dissolve into the syrup you make up.

It is not fed on its own: it is an additive that goes inside the liquid feed. The 500 cc bottle is worked out for 15 litres of syrup, and that figure is exactly what leaves anyone with four hives stuck, because they are not about to make up fifteen litres.

01 · HOW MUCH DO I ADD?

The sum for small quantities

The maker's ratio is one bottle to every 15 litres of syrup. Everything else comes out of dividing that, which is what you need when you are making two litres and not fifteen.

1 litreAbout 33 cc · a little over two tablespoons
2 litresAbout 67 cc · roughly a seventh of the bottle
5 litresAbout 167 cc · a third of a bottle

There is no need to split hairs over a cubic centimetre: it is a nutritional supplement, not a veterinary dose. What is worth avoiding is overdoing it on the idea that more gives more, because it does not.

02 · HOW TO MIX IT

Syrup first, and not while it is still warm

Make the syrup with sugar and water, equal parts or two of sugar to one of water. Warm water helps the sugar dissolve, but the Apimida does not go in until the mix has come down to room temperature: it is a protein hydrolysate and heat degrades it. The range's limit is 40 °C, and lower is better. Add it, stir until it is even, and it is ready. One point that gets misread: what has to be used the same day is the prepared syrup, not the bottle — that keeps in a cool place out of direct sun, for as long as its label says.

03 · WHAT IT IS AND ISN'T

It supplements the syrup, it does not replace pollen

What it brings is amino acids already available — hydrolysed, that is, broken down and ready to take up — plus calcium pantothenate. That suits the start of the season or a gap between flows, when you want to back the laying with something more than sugar. But the boundary is worth being clear about: an amino-acid additive does not replace pollen or a protein patty. Pollen also brings fats, sterols and micronutrients that are not here. If what the field is short of is pollen, this helps but does not close the gap — and the same goes for Promotor L: they cover the same ground, so the decision is which to use, not adding both.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

A 500 cc bottle covers 15 litres of syrup: for a small apiary that lasts several seasons, and for a working outfit there is the one-litre concentrate.

✓ FITSEnriching stimulative syrup at the start of spring or in a gap between flows.
✕ DOESN'T FITCovering a pollen shortage: that needs a protein patty. And feeding it neat, without syrup.
⚠ NOT INCLUDEDThe sugar or the syrup. You buy the additive; the feed you make yourself.
