Wire-crimping pliers for adjusting the slack in the wire on frames.
Its two toothed rollers grip the wire and, as they move, create a regular wave pattern. This design utilises part of the slack and leaves the section tighter to hold the wax foundation in place before it is embedded.
01 · TENSION
The tool does not pull on the anchors or lengthen the wire. The toothed rollers transform a straight section with slight slack into a succession of waves. This is why it works best on a frame that has already been squared up, wired and anchored, with the entire wire pre-adjusted by hand.
02 · USE
· Check the squareness, the eyelets and the anchor points. Replace the wire if it is broken, heavily rusted or marked.
· Place both rollers on the first section and close the pliers just enough for them to engage without crushing the wire.
· Move from one end to the other applying constant pressure. Do not pause at any one point, as this will result in uneven corrugation.
· Work on the alternating sections and check the square again before embedding the wax.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
| ⚠ NOT INCLUDED | Too much tension will also damage the frame. If the side bars start to bend, the anchors shift or the wire leaves a deep mark in the wood, stop. The aim is to eliminate loose vibration, not to turn each section into a rigid cord. The result depends on the wire’s diameter and hardness, the spacing between passes, and the strength of the frame. |
⚠ PRECAUTIONS
After finishing the job, remove dust and wax residue from the rollers and store the pliers in a dry place. Check that both toothed rollers rotate freely before starting another batch; a seized roller will drag the wire rather than crimping it evenly.
