01 · EVERY SLOT FILLED

Blank characters wherever your code runs out

ANEL recommends occupying every position on the head, all 12 or all 14. Wherever a slot is left empty, the unsupported metal can bend or deform with the heat — and a deformed head never marks straight again. With the head full, the heat also spreads evenly and the mark comes out even. And below ten positions it is never used.

If your code is short, make it up with blank characters — the “Space” option of the bronze character — bought like any other. They are not decorative filler: they are what holds the assembly together while it heats.

02 · ELECTRIC OR GAS

The real question is where you brand

Both make the same mark; what changes is autonomy:

The electric one belongs in the store or workshop: plug in, wait five minutes and brand the whole batch of new equipment before it goes to the field. Those five minutes cannot be cut short: pressing the head against the wood before it is up to temperature damages the characters, and that counts as damage from use, not a manufacturing defect. With its own temperature regulator you also stop depending on how the flame or the gas bottle happens to be.

03 · THE CHARACTERS

The same as the gas model

The head uses the same characters as the gas branding iron, so if you already own a set there is nothing new to buy, and if you have both irons they share parts.

The characters are not included: they are chosen and ordered separately, along with whatever blanks you need to fill the head.

04 · WHAT IT BRANDS AND WHAT IT DOES NOT

Hive wood and plastic

It works on wooden and plastic hives, which is where fire branding makes sense: it survives sun, rain and years, which neither paint nor a plate does.

It is designed for beekeeping equipment. For any other use — and we have been asked — check with us first: neither the head nor the temperatures were designed for anything else.
