The difference is not just in the scent but in the chemistry. Most commercial candles are made from paraffin – a petroleum derivative – which when burned releases toluene, benzene and black soot. Beeswax, on the other hand, consists of natural esters and fatty acids that lead to a clean burn: minimal visible smoke, fewer volatile compounds and release of negative ions that help precipitate suspended particles in the air (such as dust, pollen or tiny contaminants).

It also burns more slowly thanks to its higher density and melting point (around 62–65 °C). This means a steadier, longer-lasting flame: each candle gives approximately 1 to 1.5 hours continuous burn (depending on conditions). Also, its more viscous melt-pool means it drips far less than paraffin, preserving its shape longer.

The hexagonal shape is not a coincidence: it comes from the stamped beeswax sheets used by beekeepers to encourage faster comb building. Each candle retains that natural honeycomb texture, making it all the more special.
