Jib crane with articulated arm and pneumatic clamp for handling full honey supers up to 35 kg with no effort. A single operator keeps the extraction line fed in step with the uncapper, without back injuries or bottlenecks. All-stainless construction, mounts to floor/wall/ceiling, 2.30 m working radius. Power: 6 bar compressed air + 220 V.
A full honey super weighs 30-35 kg, and on an extraction day a commercial beekeeper handles between fifty and two hundred of them. Lifting them off the pallet, getting them to the uncapping bench and returning the empties is the physical bottleneck of every honey house — and the leading cause of lower-back injuries in the trade. This jib crane with articulated arm and pneumatic clamp takes that work off your shoulders: a single operator handles supers up to 35 kg with a finger on the remote, keeps the extraction line fed all day long, and the same equipment doubles for spin-float baskets, drums and other heavy parts of the room.
The clamp closes automatically on the top edges of the super as you lower the head onto it — no slings, hooks or strapping required. The inverted-V design with two curved stainless-steel arms fits wooden and plastic supers alike, and the pneumatic actuator grips with just enough force to hold 35 kg without marking the material. Instant release from the remote — you set the super down on the uncapping bench with the same ease with which you picked it up.
The arm swings around the column and articulates at mid-length, giving a real working radius of 2.30 m from the mounting axis. In practice, a single jib crane covers the stack of full supers, the uncapping station and the empty-super return zone with no need to reposition. That same versatility makes it useful beyond the extraction line: lifting the spin-float basket, moving 25-litre buckets, handling ripeners or laden frames. An investment that pays back across the whole honey house, not just the uncapping bench.
Vertical movement is driven by a 220 V electric winch controlled from a waterproof handheld remote that withstands honey splashes and the daily wash-down. Lift and drop speed is adjustable: slow when positioning the clamp on the super to avoid knocks, and at working speed when shuttling. Fine control makes the difference over a long day — the operator doesn't fight the equipment and keeps the line at pace without breaks.
Full stainless-steel structure — takes the steam and hot-water pressure-wash that the daily honey-house cleaning demands, with no rust or surface degradation season after season. The column mounts to the floor, wall or ceiling depending on your room layout, so it fits even in small honey houses where overhead-rail systems or full gantries don't. Mixed power supply: 6 bar compressed air (clamp) + 220 V single phase (winch).
Important — super compatibility: this system is designed for fixed supers (smooth side walls) and works perfectly on standard wooden or plastic boxes. It is not directly compatible with migratory supers fitted with reinforcement battens — those carrying a horizontal wooden cleat around the body. When stacked on a pallet the battens touch each other and leave no side clearance for the clamp arms to descend along the super walls. For batten supers the clamp head can be modified to grip under the batten, but this is a custom adaptation.
Important — installation by the customer: requires a compressed-air supply (6 bar minimum) and a 220 V earthed mains socket. The mounting (floor, wall or ceiling) must support the 130 kg equipment weight plus the 35 kg maximum payload.
