Single-wall cardboard box for twelve half-kilo honeycomb honey jars, in four rows of three. The side says it in red, «12 F - MIEL 380», which is the name of the jar that goes inside: the 380 ml one with a TO 66 mouth.

In a stack of similar boxes the half-kilo and the one-kilo get confused; and this one, like all of ours, has no dividers.

01 · NO DIVIDERS

The jars touch each other

There are no cells inside and no card inserts: the twelve jars rest against each other. It is a box for grouping and ordering, not protective packaging, and for what it is really used for — direct sale, markets, delivery by car, store by batch — that is exactly what is needed. To send by carrier you have to change packaging: double-wall board with cell dividers, or each jar wrapped and the gaps filled, because glass breaks at the shoulder, which is where one jar strikes the next.

02 · WHICH JAR FITS

The side itself says it: MIEL 380

It is cut for the half-kilo honeycomb jar, the 380 ml one with a TO 66 mouth, and it is printed on so there is no doubt when you pull it off the pile. Watch out for the plain V370, which is also a half-kilo container but measures 81 mm across: four in a row come to 324 mm and the box is 305, so it does not fit in the same layout. And the 1 kg jars have boxes of their own, the twelve and the six. Before ordering, measure the jar diameter, not the volume.

03 · IN THE STORE

Six kilos of honey and a labelled batch

Twelve half-kilo jars are 6 kg of honey plus the glass: a load you move in one go, lighter than the twelve-jar kilo box and better value to fill than the six. The side printing avoids the classic honey-room mistake, which is stacking the half-kilo box in with the kilo ones and finding out on opening them. And since it is supplied flat, until the day it is folded up it lives flat against the wall, without eating the space you need for the season.
