01 · THE TWO SIZES

The jar's diameter is not enough to decide

There are two: M at 22 × 18 × 8 cm and L at 24 × 11 × 30.5 cm. The usual mistake is measuring only the jar, and then the lid stands proud, the label adds bulk or you need a divider between two containers. Measure the set exactly as you will hand it over — container, closure, label and whatever goes between — and choose on that number. A bag that is too tight tears as you put your hand in; one that is too big leaves the product rattling and looks careless on the counter.

02 · THE BASE IS THE LIMIT

Two honey jars is where it starts to show

Worth saying plainly, because a customer said it to us: on a paper bag with twisted handles, the first thing to give is the base, not the handle. And honey is heavy: a one-kilo jar is close to 1.4 kg with the glass, so two are almost three kilos concentrated on a square of paper. With two jars it works; beyond that it is worth supporting the bag from underneath as you hand it over rather than trusting the handles, and if the batch is larger, going straight to a box. Kraft paper is strong in tension, but a paper base is still a paper base.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

This is a bag for presentation and handing over in person — markets, shop, direct sale, gifts — not shipping packaging: that needs a box. They are sold singly in both sizes; if you will need quantity for a season or the gift period, write to us and we will quote you by volume rather than adding up twenties. And if you are handing over something that might leak — an opened jar, a comb — put an inner bag in first: paper does not forgive a stain.
