From three to five frames in the same box

The APIDEA mating nuc starts with three frames and an internal feeder. Removing that feeder creates room for two more frames; the top feeder then keeps feeding separate from the five frame positions. This expands the same system when more internal space is needed.

The extension increases space within the APIDEA format

The APIDEA extension box adds space for five mini frames. The replacement frames remain APIDEA-specific, not shortened Langstroth frames or universal parts.

Plan inspection frequency and food reserves alongside mating work: a small unit has less margin than a colony on full-sized frames. Expansion provides more room but does not replace that monitoring.
