BeevolutionX is a French manufacturer specialised in thermal insulation for beehives. The company was founded to industrialise Marc Guillemain's pioneering work on advanced hive insulation, and is run by Damien Merit — professional beekeeper with a background in apiculture biology — alongside his brother Jean-Baptiste Merit as technical director. All production takes place in their workshops at La Salvetat-sur-Agout (Hérault, France).

🔥 The RBC® standard — Low-Energy Hive

RBC® is not a product but an integrated approach: stabilise the internal climate of the hive so the colony spends less energy on thermoregulation. Lower energy expense translates into lower winter mortality, lower stores consumption and better honey harvests. Every BeevolutionX component is dimensioned to work together under this standard — cushions, heat-reflective films, insulating partitions, insulated bases ("chaussures") and thermal crown boards ("écharpes") compound their effect when assembled as a system.

Every unit is assembled by hand at the BeevolutionX Tech workshops. Local production means direct quality control and guaranteed compatibility between components of the RBC® system. Base materials — high-density XPS, aluminised PE film above 85%, cork — are chosen for real field durability, not unit cost.

📦 Range — what to expect from this brand

Insulating cushions 50-62 mm in XPS (replacing two stacked standard cushions), heat-reflective film PE aluminised in rolls or cut to size, high-performance insulating partitions for winter contraction, cork boards, insulated bases and thermal crown boards to complete the system, plus hive thermal monitoring devices. Preferred fit: Dadant 10-frame hives.

⚠️ Warning with formic-acid treatments

Formic-acid vapours (Formic Pro and similar) degrade aluminised films. Always remove BeevolutionX heat-reflective components — cushions, crown boards, partitions with film — before applying the treatment. No issues with Varromed or oxalic acid under standard protocols.
