The course begins with queen biology and behaviour, bee races, choice of breeder queens and preparation of cell-building colonies. It explains stimulation, the equipment involved and how a rearing method relates to apiary size, calendar and selection objective.

From queen cell to mated queen

The syllabus covers rearing methods, controlled mating, drone production, mating nuclei, transport and introduction of queen cells, double-queen systems, finding and marking queens, quality control, introduction of virgins and F0 queens, dispatch and marketing. Recorded demonstrations make the working order and control points easier to recognise.
