Colony nutrition taught as a decision: when to feed, for which purpose and how to assess ingredients and products.
Fina Gonell begins with the natural diet—honey, pollen and water—and explains how the needs of bees and colony change. The course focuses on observing stores and critical periods before choosing a feed, rather than applying the same calendar to every apiary.
01 · FOCUS
Topics include malnutrition, indicators, carbohydrate and protein sources, honey and pollen substitutes, water, amino acids and vitamins. Formulations are compared for maintenance, development or stimulation, together with criteria for reading technical sheets and assessing products available on the market.
02 · SYLLABUS
The syllabus links feeding to the colony cycle, forage, stores and the beekeeper’s objective. It also addresses possible honey contamination associated with feeding—an important reason to separate colony support from harvest and to review timing, composition and traceability before use.
03 · FORMAT AND ACCESS
The programme contains 6 lessons and 160 minutes of recorded content, with Fina Gonell as lead tutor. It includes a technical talk with María Marcilla and a PDF guide by Antonio Gómez Pajuelo. There is no fixed start date or attendance schedule. After purchase from La Tienda del Apicultor, login details are sent to the email used for the order within a maximum of 24 hours, and the material remains available for revision.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
This product page is translated to help you decide, but the videos, spoken teaching and learning content are in Spanish. It suits beginners as well as beekeepers who want to justify their feeding decisions more clearly. The course provides a decision framework and working method; it does not replace regulations, product instructions, professional diagnosis or hands-on experience where these are required in the learner’s own setting.
| SUITABLE | For learning to assess colony needs and compare feeds before choosing a feeding plan. |
| NOT A | Live class, in-person practical session or official qualification. |
| NOT INCLUDED | Physical beekeeping equipment, travel and face-to-face sessions. |
