Details of Steel Handles for Beehive Straps - pair, 55x130 mm grip
Pair of steel carry handles to fit the textile straps used to secure hives. 20 × 20 mm square section, 180 mm long, Ø8 mm rod, 20 × 3 mm flat bar and a 55 × 130 mm grip.
They fit onto the strap, not onto the hive. And that changes where they have to bear and what you can lift with them.
01 · WHICH STRAP THEY FIT
The 5-metre textile ones
They are made for the textile straps used to secure hives, specifically reference BT02-2 in the shop. The 20 × 20 mm square section is what makes the fit, so a strap of another width or a metal band will not take them.
They come as a pair, which is what a hive needs: one each side, facing each other.
02 · WHAT YOU WILL BE LIFTING
40 to 60 kg in full season
A production hive with a full super can reach 40 or 60 kg: between two people, 20 to 30 kg each — manageable for loading onto a trailer, not for walking a hundred metres.
The 55 × 130 mm grips leave room for a gloved hand, which is how loading actually happens.
03 · THEY DO NOT REPLACE THE STRAP
The strap is what holds
The handles give you somewhere to grip; what stops floor, brood box, super and roof separating on the way is the strap properly tensioned around the whole stack.
Check it passes under the floor and over the roof, and that it has not gone slack. A hive that opens in mid-air is an afternoon lost.

Check your straps are textile and of the width the 20 mm square section calls for.
