Details of Spare Battery 24V 20Ah for Kaptarlift Hive Lifter

Lithium-ion battery of 24 V and 20 Ah, as a spare or a mid-shift swap, for the electric Kaptarlift hive trolley.

It is the battery of the electric Kaptarlift models, the AWD and the TOP. The manual one has none. Worth saying first, because there are three in our range: the manual Kaptarlift, which uses no battery, and the electric AWD and TOP, which both take this one. If you are unsure which you have, look for a control on the handle.

01 · A SECOND ONE, NOT A SPARE

Which is the use it really has

On migration or at a big apiary, the problem is not that the battery fails: it is that it runs out mid-afternoon with half the hives moved. With two packs you swap in seconds and the one coming off goes on charge.

The pack is 24 V and 20 Ah, that is 480 Wh.

02 · 480 WH IS NOT AN ORDINARY PARCEL

And this is worth settling before you buy

Lithium batteries are class 9 dangerous goods, and above 100 Wh they stop travelling as ordinary parcels. This one is nearly five times that threshold.

In practice that means road transport, with conditions. If your delivery address is on an island, remote, or served by air, write to us before ordering and we will check it can get there. It is a commercial warning, not an obstacle: we would rather say it than leave an order stuck in a depot.

03 · HOW TO MAKE IT LAST

It is chemistry, not superstition

Lithium has no memory effect, so partial charges cost it nothing: twenty minutes on the charger between apiaries is free in terms of service life. What does punish it is running it flat to 0 % over and over.

Three habits that pay: always charge it with the original charger, because the pack carries its own control electronics and another charger does not talk to it; if you have two, mark them A and B and rotate them so they age alike; and if you are stopping for weeks, store it at 40-60 % somewhere cool — never in the sun inside the van, and never fully discharged.
