01 · THREE HUNDRED KILOS, ALL IN

Count the tare

Capacity is 300 kg of total load. A drum is called «300 kg» for the honey inside it, not for what it weighs full: a large steel one is around 30 kg empty, so full it lands at about 330.

Add the two figures before you load. It is the same sum you have to do with the clamp hook and with any other handling gear.

02 · THE FOOT PLATE IS THE LEVER

How you tip it without force

A drum like that is not lifted: it is tipped. The wheel axle acts as the pivot, you step on the anti-slip plate and pull the handle back — the weight does the rest.

The adjustable retaining hook is what stops the drum sliding off during that movement, which is when it happens. Set it against the rim before you tip, not after.

03 · THE WHEELS AND THEIR PRESSURE

Ø 400 and pneumatic for a reason

The wheels are pneumatic, Ø 400 mm (122/90-8) and take 335 kg each: between the two, well above the 300 of the frame. The limit is set by the structure, not the wheel.

Being pneumatic is what lets you cross an apiary on rough ground without the drum bouncing. In return they ask for something: check the pressure before the season. A flat tyre under 300 kg does not move.

04 · WHERE IT LIVES

Measure the doorway

It stands 1,600 mm tall and 770 wide, and weighs 60 kg empty. Check the honey house door and the gap where it will sit when not in use.

The steel is lacquered carbon steel, not stainless: the lacquer is the protection. A knock that chips the paint starts rusting in a damp room, so it is worth touching up the chips.
