Details of Trolley for supers with tray

The tray is 510 × 406 mm, and it is a tray, not a cradle: the super sits on top. Measure yours before counting on a flush fit.

Honey house trolley with a 201 stainless steel tray 1.8 mm thick and four 360° swivel castors. 510 × 406 mm.

01 · IT'S A TRAY, NOT A CRADLE

The figure, and what to do with it

The usable surface is 510 × 406 mm. A super rests on top and you push; it does not drop into a recess and no raised lip holds it.

Outside dimensions of a super vary by maker and format, so the only check that counts is yours: measure your super and compare it with those 510 × 406. Overhanging a few millimetres is still stable; what you want to avoid is loading it off-centre.

02 · 201 STAINLESS, NOT 304

What that means for cleaning

The sheet is 201 stainless steel, 1.8 mm. It is a manganese stainless, cheaper than 304 and more than enough for a transport tray, but less resistant to chlorides.

In practice: hose it with water and soap, then dry it. What costs it is bleach and being left wet with residue overnight — that is where 201 pits and 304 would hold.

03 · FOUR SWIVEL CASTORS

Manoeuvre yes, heading no

All four castors swivel 360°, and that is exactly what you want in a honey house: moving the trolley sideways between extractor, bench and settling tank without having to take a curve.

In exchange, a trolley with all four swivelling does not hold a heading on its own. Down a long aisle or a ramp it wanders, so you walk it with your hand; you do not launch it.

04 · WHY YOU BUY ONE

The dead weight of the harvest

The real work of a harvest is dead weight: full supers from the unloading point to the uncapping tray, empty supers back, drums that have to be shifted. All of it gets lifted or pushed.

The trolley turns the lifting into a push, and on a floor wet or sticky with honey the big castors roll where a dragged box digs in.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

This is the trolley:

✓ FITSMoving supers, boxes and drums inside the honey house during extraction.
✕ DOESN'T FITRough ground or outdoors: it is a smooth-floor trolley.
⚠ NOT INCLUDEDSupers, drums or a brake.
