01 · COMPATIBILITY

Two jars yes, and two that look the part but are not

It closes the 212 ml Ánfora jar and the 285 ml Bear jar. The 80 ml deep jar and the 154 ml jar, however, are DTO-58: the same 58 mm diameter, but a longer neck and a deep skirt, so this lid will not engage them. It is the classic buying mistake on this bore, because the number matches and the difference only shows with both lids side by side. And one thing worth knowing beforehand: in the deep 58 finish we only stock silver — there is no black in the whole range.

02 · THE PACK SUMS

25 lids match the Ánfora, not the Bear

The Ánfora is sold in packs of 25, exactly the lids in this pack: a clean purchase. The Bear jar comes in twenties, so one pack of lids covers one pack of bears and leaves five lids over; for five packs of bears, four of lids. For production runs, the full box of this reference is 1,730 lids.

03 · WHAT THE COLOUR CHANGES

The outside, and only the outside

Black is outer lacquer over the same tinplate: it changes neither the seal, nor the sealing compound, nor the declared thermal limit. Lids of one finish share a specification sheet whatever the colour, so you can alternate finishes within a single run without touching the process. On the shelf it does change things: the Ánfora and the Bear are gift and farm-shop formats, and matt black frames the label instead of competing with it.

FROM THE APIARY

A Twist-Off does not screw on like a bottle cap: the four lugs ride up a short ramp and the whole closure is a quarter turn. Sit it flat until you feel it settle, turn to the stop and leave it there: carrying on does not seal better, it bends the lug and leaves the jar impossible to open. If it grates or feels like the thread has stripped, lift it off and set it down again — there is no thread to strip, a lug has ridden over its ramp.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Before ordering, read the jar reference: if it carries DTO or 'deep', you need the deep skirt and this is not it. If the jar simply says TO 58, this is the one.
