01 · COMPATIBILITY

Deep finish: a low-skirt lid will not do

These are deep-skirt lids and they close TO66 deep-finish jars, the ones listed as «Deep» or deep-finish. The standard low-skirt TO66 lid will not close one of these jars even though the diameter matches: it is a different part. Check whether your jar is deep-finish before ordering, and if in doubt try one lid on one jar before capping the whole batch.

02 · A SOUND CLOSURE

A new lid still needs a compatible jar and process

Check the glass rim for chips, product residue and moisture around the sealing area. Set the lid straight and apply the torque specified for the jar and capping line. The final hermetic seal depends on the lid–jar combination, filling conditions, temperature and process; the lid cannot guarantee it on its own.

03 · PASTEURISATION

Up to 100 °C for 60 minutes according to the manufacturer sheet

The technical specification covers pasteurisation at up to 100 °C for 60 minutes. This is not a general authorisation for higher-temperature sterilisation: any sterilisation process needs a configuration validated with Tecnocap for the lid, sealing compound, jar and working pressure.

04 · HANDLING AND STORAGE

Prevent dents: deformation can affect the seal

Keep the lids in their packaging, clean and dry, between 5 and 35 °C and at no more than 70% relative humidity. The stated storage life is up to two years. Do not place heavy loads on them, and reject any dented, rusty or distorted lid before filling.

A Twist-Off does not screw on like a bottle cap: the four lugs ride up a short ramp and the whole closure is a quarter turn. Sit it flat until you feel it settle, turn to the stop and leave it there: carrying on does not seal better, it bends the lug and leaves the jar impossible to open. If it grates or feels like the thread has stripped, lift it off and set it down again — there is no thread to strip, a lug has ridden over its ramp.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

A clear visual cue for honey jars

The plain gold finish is intended to identify the jar as honey even before the label is read. The pack contains 25 lids; jars, labels and capping equipment are not included. For an even presentation, handle the lids with clean hands and avoid rubbing the decorated face during packing.
