01 · WHAT THE WIDE MOUTH IS FOR

Not looks — a teaspoon

With a mouth taking up nearly the full diameter, the spoon reaches the bottom and the walls without bending. That matters little with a runny honey and a great deal with a crystallised or creamed honey, where a narrow neck leaves product stuck that the customer ends up throwing away.

It fills better for the same reason: a thick honey goes in at one go, without the thread that runs down the outside of the neck. It is the format for creamed honeys, infused honeys and preparations with body.

02 · THE LID IS A DEEP SKIRT

The detail that costs the most returns

This jar is wide-mouthed, so it takes a deep-skirt TO 66 lid, not the standard TO 66. Both measure 66 mm across the mouth and differ only in the height of the skirt: fit the shallow one on this jar and it will not close.

The deep skirt comes in gold, black and silver; the honeycomb and bee-design finishes are only made in the standard version, so they are not available for this format. And the numbers work out: lids and jars both come in packs of 25.
