TO 66 DEEP · GPI 2035 | 25 LIDS PER PACK |
A 66 mm twist-off lid with a deep skirt, in plain silver: the closure for deep-finish jars, not for standard ones.
Four lugs and a GPI 2035 glass finish, on 0.16 mm tinplate. Pack of 25.
01 · DEEP OR STANDARD
The difference is not cosmetic. The standard 66 lid matches the GPI 2030 glass finish and this one matches GPI 2035: the neck of a deep-finish jar is longer, which is why this skirt is 14 mm tall and carries 12.23 g of metal against the 8.90 g of the standard one. A standard lid on a deep jar never engages; a deep lid on a standard jar leaves its lugs below the ramp. If in doubt, read the jar reference: if it says Deep or DTO, this is the one.
02 · COMPATIBILITY
Two of them in the active catalogue: the 212 ml deep-finish TO66 jar and the 136 ml DTO-66 deep jar, together with their pallets. Every other 66 container we sell — the 0.5 kg honeycomb jar, the 250 ml B250, the 140 ml B4 onzas, the 520 ml Saldae and the Oval BOV 370 — has a standard finish and takes the standard lid. This is the usual buying mistake on this bore, because the diameter is identical and the difference only shows with both lids side by side.
03 · WHAT RUINS A LID
People who use them on jars reused from elsewhere report liquid leaking out, and there is a reason: the compound seals against the glass rim, so a worn, chipped or differently profiled rim will not gasket however hard you tighten. And the dishwasher is not for them: the outer lacquer and the cut edge of the tinplate end up with rust spots. Keep them in their packaging, dry, and save the new lid for the closure that has to hold.
FROM THE APIARY
A Twist-Off does not screw on like a bottle cap: the four lugs ride up a short ramp and the whole closure is a quarter turn. Sit it flat until you feel it settle, turn to the stop and leave it there: carrying on does not seal better, it bends the lug and leaves the jar impossible to open. If it grates or feels like the thread has stripped, lift it off and set it down again — there is no thread to strip, a lug has ridden over its ramp.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
In a 25-pack, the deep 66 comes in silver only. Gold and black exist in the same deep skirt, but in a 720-unit box: if you need colour rather than volume, the standard finish does carry the whole range in packs.
