01 · DECORATION

Matt bronze with a rose-copper bee

The matt bronze ground and the embossed bee in rose copper finish the jar off without giving up anything on the seal. It shows best on dark honeys — heather, chestnut, holm oak, eucalyptus — where the contrast between glass and lid lifts the whole presentation, and on gift and corporate batches.

02 · SEAL

Standard TO 82 skirt, six lugs

Lithographed tinplate with a food-contact interior lacquer and a perimeter liner that keeps the honey clear of moisture and odours until it sells. Six closing lugs and pasteurisation up to 95 °C, so it takes hot filling and a water bath. For honey you sell, use a new lid every time: the liner takes the imprint of the glass rim on the first close and never comes back flat.

VETERAN'S TIP

A Twist-Off does not screw down like a cap: the six lugs ride up a short ramp and the whole close is a quarter turn. Set it down flat until you feel it seat, turn to the stop and stop there — pushing past it does not seal better, it bends a lug and leaves the jar impossible to open. If it grates or feels cross-threaded, lift it and set it down again: there is no thread to cross, a lug has ridden up onto the ramp.
