TO43 · TO48 BY JAR SIZE | 2 MODELS |
Wooden lid with a built-in honey dipper that turns the Diamond jar into a serving jar: honey goes out without running down the thread or trailing threads onto the table.
There are two models and you do not choose by taste: each one goes with a jar neck.
01 · WHAT IT SOLVES
The system is the classic one, well resolved: the dipper hangs on the inside, so as you lift it the honey drains inside the jar and not down the outside. That is all it takes to serve cleanly at a table, on a counter or at a tasting, and it shows most with dense honeys — rosemary, thyme, forest. Worth being clear about what it is not: a serving lid, not a transport closure. To move full jars or store them sealed, the screw cap is still the cap.
02 · CHOOSE BY THE NECK, NOT THE NAME
The two models are named after the jar size, but what decides the fit is the neck diameter: the 300 g Diamond takes TO43 and the 500 g takes TO48. If you choose by the size of the jar you already own, you get it right. And if what you own is another jar, the right question is not what brand it is but what neck it has — and even with a matching figure, check the seating before buying quantity, because a wooden lid does not thread like a metal twist-off.
03 · CRYSTALLISED HONEY, SENSIBLY
With heavily crystallised honey the dipper stops being convenient, and the answer is to warm the jar in a water bath — with two limits. First: gently and below about 40 °C, because going higher raises HMF and degrades the enzymes, and that does not come back on cooling. Second: the wood does not go in the water bath; warm the jar with its screw cap on and fit the wooden one afterwards, to serve.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
The lid is sold without the jar: the Diamond comes separately, in the corresponding pack. For the wood to last there are three easy rules: hand washing, immediate drying and no soaking — and no dishwasher, which opens the grain and raises the fibres. If you are serving daily, drying it after each use extends its life far more than any treatment.
