JENTER VarroaSTOP item 501 is a biotechnical trapping comb that confines the queen's laying to a small, removable brood area while the rest of the colony gradually becomes broodless.

It does not stop laying immediately: it concentrates it in 314 cells. The aim is to draw Varroa into that brood, remove it once capped and repeat the cycle. This is beekeeping management equipment, not a veterinary medicine.

01 · PREPARE THE COLONY

Start only if every inspection can be completed

Measure infestation before starting and place the procedure within the apiary's health plan. Choose a colony of adequate strength and a time compatible with its brood cycle, harvest and local climate. Install the device in a frame exactly as instructed, find the queen and make sure the front cover and excluder grid are fully secured. Nurse bees must be able to pass through the grid from both sides to tend the queen and brood. Do not begin if you cannot return in time for every panel change.

02 · REMOVE BEFORE EMERGENCE

Actual capping sets the schedule, not a fixed day count

Confirm that the queen is laying inside the area and that the colony has accepted the device. Once the 314-cell surface is capped, remove the rear panel with all its brood and immediately fit a fresh cell-embossed panel; the queen remains confined for the next cycle. Removed brood must never be allowed to emerge: destroy it hygienically or, if the panel will be reused, uncap and wash every cell completely as stated by the manufacturer. Never extend the interval by guesswork or leave capped brood unchecked.

03 · COMPLETE AND VERIFY

Release the queen only when the colony is genuinely broodless

The manufacturer requires at least two brood cycles, but completion depends on the colony's actual condition rather than a calendar: all earlier brood elsewhere in the nest must have emerged and the last fraction of mites must be concentrated in capped VarroaSTOP brood. Remove that panel before emergence and release the queen through the front cover, or perform the planned queen replacement. Record installation, panel changes, brood removals and release. Check that the queen is present and healthy, then measure infestation again; the result determines whether further control is required.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Use within integrated control; it is not an eradication promise

Performance depends on initial mite load, timing, full completion and reinfestation pressure. Poor timing can weaken a colony. Official guidance treats management methods as complementary and requires monitoring, so do not automatically replace a mandatory or indicated veterinary treatment. Where medication is needed, use only an authorised product according to its label and applicable veterinary advice. Total mite removal, zero queen loss and an identical result in every colony cannot be guaranteed.
