01 · THE LID

Standard TO 66, not Deep

The number on a Twist-Off mouth is its diameter in millimetres: TO 66 means a 66 mm mouth. What you also have to get right is the skirt, and there our rule never fails: if the jar's name does not say «Deep» or «high mouth», it is a standard mouth and takes a low-skirt lid. This one does not say it.

That covers gold lids, black lids and vented lids for hot filling. What does not fit is a deep-skirt TO 66, which belongs to the 212 ml high-mouth jar.

02 · THE CLOSURE

A quarter turn, then stop

A twist-off lid has no continuous thread: it has four lugs that ride up a short ramp, and the whole closure is a quarter turn. Rest it flat until you feel it seat, turn to the stop and stop. Carrying on bends the lug and leaves the jar impossible to open.

And the detail that prevents a complaint: honey is filled cold, so no vacuum forms and the centre button neither drops nor clicks. It is not a faulty lid — in honey the seal is mechanical.

03 · THE JAR

380 ml of glass, 500 g of honey

The 380 ml are of the glass to the brim, not of the honey: honey weighs close to 1.4 kg per litre, so half a kilo goes in leaving the neck clear. It measures Ø 75 mm and 116.3 mm tall and weighs 205 g, above standard glass.

The honeycomb relief on the shoulder is what a honey buyer recognises from a metre away, and the clear white glass shows the true colour of the crop.

04 · THE PALLET

2,097 jars, a good tonne of honey

A full pallet is 2,097 units: over 1,000 kg of packed honey once you fill them. It is the campaign format, the one that saves repeating orders mid-season.

It arrives shrink-wrapped and stable for storage, ready to go on the line. If you pack for sale, remember the lid is single-use: the liner takes the imprint of the glass rim on the first closure and never goes flat again.
