01 · IT REACHES 85, HONEY WANTS 40

Where to set the dial

Heat raises the HMF — the marker that gives away a heated honey, with a legal limit — and degrades the honey's own enzymes. That is why the reference for decrystallising is 40 °C, with patience, and not the maximum the device offers.

The thermostat goes to 85 because the equipment can, not because the honey should. The extra degrees are paid for in the analysis, and on a honey sold under your own label that matters.

02 · IMMERSION HEATS BY CONTACT

The difference from a warm cabinet

A submerged heater does not warm the air: it warms the honey that touches it. The thermostat reads at its probe, but the film of honey stuck to the element is hotter than the rest of the drum.

Two practical consequences follow: work with the dial low, and stir the honey now and then so no overheated layer sits on the metal. The slower it goes, the more even it is.

03 · NEVER DRY

The rule that saves the device

An immersion heater destroys itself in minutes if it runs in air, and at 1,500 W that is not merely a breakdown. Plug it in with the element covered and unplug it before lifting it out.

With very compact honey it pays to start gently and let it work its way in rather than forcing it. And check the level before switching on: it is the same care any submerged heater asks for.

04 · 53 IN OVER 54

Compatibility, in one figure

The diameter is 530 mm with a ±10 tolerance, so it fits drums and settling tanks over 54 cm of inside diameter. Measure yours before ordering: if it is tight, it does not go in.

It stands 121 cm tall and has a handle to position it over the drum. It runs on 220 V at 1,500 W.

05 · IMMERSION, BLANKET OR CABINET

Which to choose for what

There are three ways to bring honey back to liquid and they do not compete: you choose. The immersion heater is the fastest because it acts inside the honey — and for that same reason the most demanding on temperature control.

The heating blanket warms the drum from outside, gentler and slower. The warm cabinet works with air around the container, the most even of the three and the slowest.

For large volumes on a tight calendar, immersion remains the effective option. For a delicate honey with no hurry, the cabinet. The heater is made in Denmark and the maker gives five years of warranty.
