A complete wooden Langstroth with brood box and full-depth super on the same footprint, arranged so the hive modules can be secured for moving.

The Domínguez configuration brings the main parts of a production hive into one reference: brood box, super, twenty wired frames, crownboard, roof and the chosen floor. This page separates what is supplied from the decisions still left to the beekeeper.

01 · CONFIGURATION

Ten frames below and ten in the super

The brood box contains 10 bevelled, wired Hoffman frames and the super adds 10 wired frames. Its wooden roof is clad in sheet metal and ventilated; beneath it sits a framed crownboard with a central vent. The result is a complete set of 20 frames, but the listed contents do not state that wax foundation, bees or a pollen trap are supplied.

02 · HANDLING AND MOVING

Double entrance, upper opening and quick-release catches

The front combines a double entrance with an upper opening intended for fitting a pollen trap. Side catches make it easier to secure and open the boxes while working. An actual move still requires checks on closure, ventilation and load stability, plus the restraints required by the vehicle and local rules. The hive catches do not replace those transport checks.

03 · BUILD AND DIMENSIONS

HT-treated maritime pine with published Langstroth measurements

The boxes are made from Pinus pinaster timber with HT phytosanitary treatment under registration ES-37-0012. Joints are interlocked and fixed with ring-shank nails. The brood box and super each measure 430 × 515 mm externally and use 24 mm timber. Published frame measurements are 445 × 230 mm externally, a 480 mm top bar and 425 × 203 mm internally. Small dimensional variation is normal for timber components.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Choose an open-mesh or standard floor

Select the floor variant for the intended management method and confirm it appears on the order. The current logistics record gives an empty weight of about 25 kg. Add the later weight of frames, brood, stores and supers when deciding how the hive will be lifted or moved.
