Wooden observation hive for one Layens frame, with both faces in clear acrylic: the whole comb is visible from both sides. For courses, schools, fairs and demonstrations with a beekeeper in charge; the 36.5 × 39.5 cm Layens frame is the one that fits, and a Dadant or a Langstroth does not.
Showing a hive without opening it: a single frame with brood, stores and bees in view, and the public a pane away.
01 · WHICH FRAME FITS
It is the mailbox question, in Italian. The slot takes a Layens frame, 36.5 cm top bar and 39.5 high (the one in our catalogue, with 30 × 35 foundation): a 42-wide Dadant frame or a 48 Langstroth will not go in. With a Dadant or Langstroth apiary, the demonstration is prepared with a populated Layens frame from a Layens nuc.
02 · HOW TO USE IT
Take out a frame with brood, stores and its bees, slide it in carefully and close the sides before any gap is left. In the shade, with the intended ventilation and no direct sun on the acrylic, which heats the comb in minutes; and only for the length of the talk or the fair, returning the frame to its colony the same day. With the public, keep distance, warn about allergies and have a plan for stings.
03 · WHAT IT IS
Wooden structure with both faces in clear acrylic and a slot for a single frame. No frame, foundation or bees included; the shipping weight field says about 10 kg and the maker does not publish outside dimensions.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
The observation hive is supplied alone; Layens frame, Layens foundation and Layens nuc come separately.
