01 · IT IS LIQUID: FEW CUTS

Open it too much and bees drown inside the bag

This is the most important thing to know and it was not being said: Beecomplet is a syrup, not a paste, and with the bag wide open bees go in and do not come out — beekeepers have found drowned bees inside the feed. The bag goes over the frames and you make a few small cuts on the top face, just enough for them to draw from. If you would rather not depend on that, pour it into a feeder with floats, which is the clean way to give a liquid.

02 · WHAT IS IN IT

Carbohydrates, water and plant extracts

The declared composition is 75 % carbohydrates — of which 18.79 % reducing sugars — and 20 % water. The rest is plant extracts providing potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc and iron, plus 17 amino acids and 12 vitamins. It is maintenance feed: it covers the colony's consumption when no nectar is coming in; it does not start laying.

03 · HOW TO PLAN IT

A maximum of two bags every 15-30 days

The maker's guidance is a maximum of two bags over an interval of 15 to 30 days, and that is what to base your order on. In practice consumption depends on population: a strong colony drinks the kilo far sooner than a weak one. And if in deep cold you have no room between frames and crown board, the bag can sit on the crown board beside the hole on Langstroth and Dadant — they still reach it.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

This is the winter version of the range; the summer/autumn one is what you use to build stores before wintering. If you want a paste that lasts weeks without spilling, a fondant is a different product and a different handling. And the standing rule: do not feed during a flow if you are going to harvest that honey for sale.
