01 · WHAT CHANGES VERSUS THE STANDARD
Key Differences and Advantages of Beefonda Mini:• Compact format: Unlike the standard version, Beefonda Mini is specifically designed to fit seamlessly into Layens hives without the need for cutting or adjusting, avoiding interference with the top bar.• Suitable for all hive types: While optimized for Layens hives, its versatile format ensures easy application in any hive model.• Easy application: Simply place it directly on the brood frames, making a cut at the bottom of the package. The hive’s heat softens the food, allowing bees to consume it efficiently.• GMO-free: made with raw materials that are not genetically modified.• Complete consumption: Thanks to its high palatability, bees readily accept it, leaving no waste.
02 · HOW TO PUT IT IN
Cut the underside of the wrapper and lay the patty straight on the brood frames, opening down towards the bees. The warmth of the cluster softens the paste from below and the bees eat through the opening. Leave the plastic on: it acts as a floor and keeps the paste off the crown board. In a roof feeder it performs worse, because the patty sits away from the cluster's heat and the bees are slow to go up for it.
03 · THE 25 °C LIMIT
Usage Considerations:• Recommended for temperatures below 25°C: In warm climates or during hot seasons, it may become too soft and could leak inside the hive.• Best used during nectar shortages: Especially useful in autumn, winter, or when honey reserves are insufficient.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
The usual question is this or the standard 1 kg patty: if you run Layens hives, this one goes in without trimming and without fighting the crown board rail; if you only work Langstroth or Dadant, the standard patty does the same job. And the rule that does not depend on format: do not feed during the flow if you intend to harvest that honey for sale.
| ✓ FITS | A Layens hive without trimming, and equally over the frames of any other hive. |
| ⚠ BEAR IN MIND | Above 25 °C it softens. And in a roof feeder it performs worse than over the frames. |
