01 · WHAT IT SOLVES

The bag closes on itself, and that leaves candy uneaten

When a bag of candy is opened with a wide cut, the plastic folds over the feed as the level drops and narrows the passage again. The colony stops reaching the product and you end up removing a half-eaten bag. The Candisac turns that cut into a defined access point: its teeth grip the plastic around the hole and stop it closing again, so the candy is used right to the end. It is a few-cent part that pays for itself in what stops being thrown away.

02 · HOW IT IS USED

It does not cut: it punctures. Press and twist

Here is the commonest misunderstanding. The opening face is not a blade: it is a toothed rim that punctures by pressure and rotation. Rest the bag on a firm surface, place the piece and press while turning a quarter turn — anyone treating it as a knife gets frustrated. With very cold candy the plastic is taut and it takes more effort, so letting the bag warm up first helps a great deal. Once the hole is made, turn the piece over and insert the retaining face into it: the teeth grip the edge and the passage stays open.

03 · THE SIZE

Six centimetres that have to fit

It measures 6 cm across and leaves a 3.5 cm opening. Before fitting it, check that the hole in your quilt, crown board or feeder takes those dimensions and that the assembly is stable with the bag resting on it — it is not a universal adapter, and there are feeders it will not go into. If the seat does not match or the bag sits off-centre, correct it before closing the hive: a badly seated bag tips and the candy ends up on the frames.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

It works with candy and fondant bags, that is, solid feed; for liquid syrup bags the method is different — small cuts on the upper face, no piece needed. It washes in hot water and is reused season after season. It is a single item: one per bag in place.
