This Apifonda pallet is for beekeepers who prefer 2.5 kg bags rather than smaller portions. It includes 64 boxes of 5 bags, giving 320 bags and 800 kg net of ready-to-use bee sugar paste. It suits apiaries where strong colonies need a larger feed unit, fewer top-ups and a more organised energy-feeding routine across a high number of hives.
The 2.5 kg bag works best when the colony can take feed steadily: strong hives coming out of winter, well-developed nucs, planned batches of colonies or out-apiaries where you do not want to open every few days. Compared with the 1 kg format, it gives more feed per placement and uses fewer packs for the same amount of food.
Apifonda is a solid energy feed made mainly from sucrose with microfine crystals coated in a thin syrup film. It is placed directly in the hive and avoids mixing liquid syrup at times when liquid feed can chill, spill or create handling problems. It is not a protein patty: if pollen is lacking, that nutritional gap needs a separate answer.
Use it for early winter preparation, late-winter support, nectar gaps or colonies short of stores. The point is not to feed by habit, but to match the feed to stores, colony strength and real consumption. In small or weak colonies, a large bag placed too far from the cluster may simply sit outside the active area.
Cut the bag and place it near the cluster or brood area, over the frames or crown board, where bees can reach it without chilling. It does not replace health checks or varroa control, and it should be managed outside commercial honey harvest periods or with suitable handling to avoid adulteration.
