01 · CLEANING

What it is actually here for: wood and equipment

It is used to clean the woodwork of hives and nucs that time has left corroded, dirty or greasy, before painting them. It works the same on tools (brushes, hive tools, scrapers) and on the floors and sanitary ware of the honey house. After applying it, rinse with water.

02 · PERFORMANCE

In wax: it clarifies and decalcifies

In wax processing, oxalic acid is used for binding calcium and clarifying the wax. It treats the water and the wax, not the comb and not the bees.

03 · HIVE HEALTH

What it does NOT do: sterilise

Do not confuse the two, because a health decision rests on it. Oxalic acid does not sterilise wax. Sterilising is a matter of time and temperature — practical references cite 125 °C for 60 minutes — and American foulbrood spores can survive for years in hive products. If you suspect foulbrood, recycling that wax is not the safe route.
