01 · WHY IT WEARS

Charred residue and heating up empty

Polytetrafluoroethylene does not break down at the Sublimox’s working temperature and the acid does not attack it, which is what would rule out a metal cup; but above 260 °C it starts to degrade, and a head heated with the cup empty or with residue from previous applications ends up with a pitted, sticky surface. When the bottom no longer comes clean with a dry cloth, the dose spreads worse: time to change it, with the unit cold.

02 · HOW TO CHANGE IT

By hand, cold, and check the O-ring

It is threaded into the head: with the sublimator cold and unplugged it loosens by hand, no tools, and the new one screws in. The rubber O-ring (2317) is checked at every change and replaced if cracked or flattened, which is what prevents vapour leaks through the thread. The Flip Top swing-lid kit (2467) is the other head spare.

03 · WHAT IT GOES WITH

Only the Sublimox

It is the cup of the original Sublimox (1569), in both its versions; other sublimators each have their own head and do not take it. It is sold on its own to keep a spare in the unit’s box and not stop a treatment round for a ten-gram part.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

The cup is supplied on its own, with its O-ring; the sublimator, the spare O-ring (2317) and the Flip Top kit (2467) come separately.

Only with authorised veterinary medicines containing oxalic acid for sublimation, at the dose and by the procedure of their label; pure oxalic acid is an illegal application. Gloves, goggles and suitable respiratory protection during application. Always change the cup with the unit cold and unplugged.
