Sliding plastic entrance block, 373 × 39 mm: the sliding gates open, reduce or close the entrance without swapping the part.
Check the length first, because the fit is not decided by the hive: it is decided by the floor it mounts on.
01 · COMPATIBILITY
It mounts on the flat front edge of wooden fixed floors for Langstroth and Dadant hives, held with screws or clips. Branded plastic floors are a different matter: they come with moulded slots and take the entrance block of their own family — a NICOT floor takes the NICOT entrance, which clips into those slots.
So the useful question is not whether it suits a ten-frame Dadant, but which floor you have fitted.
02 · WHAT IT ADJUSTS
The gates slide sideways, so they narrow the entrance front while leaving the same gap height. That covers the season: a wide entrance during the flow, a reduced front when there is robbing or a weak colony to defend, and a closed entrance for a short move.
What it does not do is filter by size. It holds back neither queen nor drones, and it is no use against the Asian hornet: that calls for a calibrated gap height.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
Measure the front edge of your floor before ordering: the reference is 373 mm long by 39 mm high.
