Migratory hive roof for Domínguez® hives (Langstroth and Dadant) in 25 mm timber. Wood and galvanised sheet, with ventilation and an easy-open catch: it locks the roof to the body so it won’t fly off in transit and opens with no tools. External size 550 × 460 mm.
The roof that tops the Domínguez® migratory hive, for Langstroth and Dadant hives built from 25 mm timber. Made of wood capped with galvanised sheet, it comes with the easy-open catch that locks it to the body so it won’t shift or fly off on the road.
The easy-open catch anchors the roof to the hive’s wooden rim and pins it down: no tipping, no lids popping off when you brake or over the bumps. And it opens and closes in one move, no tools, so inspections don’t drag. Because it anchors on the top rim, it’s for migratory hives fitted with that rim, not for fixed-comb hives.
A wooden body capped with galvanised sheet: it shields the timber from sun, rain and the knocks of loading, and extends the roof’s life season after season. It has ventilation so the colony can breathe while it travels shut, and a reinforcing batten —as on Layens roofs— that stiffens the lid and stops it warping. Inside: a 70 mm recess with about 50 mm of clearance above the frame top bars.
