The sanitary floor mesh is the cheapest way to turn a standard bottom board into a sanitary one.
It is galvanised steel (expanded metal) already cut to 39 × 49 cm, the size that fits Langstroth and Dadant hives. Bees can't pass through it, don't propolise the holes and don't build comb on it.
01 · USE
Placed over the bottom tray, it lets debris and the colony's natural drop —varroa included— fall out, keeping the hive cleaner and better ventilated underneath. It also lets you check what falls into the tray without disturbing the bees.
02 · MATERIAL
Expanded metal is rigid and tough, and being galvanised it withstands moisture without rusting. Bees don't propolise or build on it, so it stays clear season after season. To complete the sanitary floor, pair it with the bottom sheet or tray (sold separately).
