This plain galvanised sheet-metal runner supports Hoffman frames in Dadant and Langstroth boxes.

Before choosing it, look at the frame side bars: their shape tells you whether you need a plain or castellated runner. It measures 37.5 × 2 cm and is sold singly.

01 · WHAT TO EXPECT

Does it stop the frames sticking?

No. Bees can still place propolis under the lugs and between Hoffman frames. The metal gives a smooth, hard surface that is easier to scrape and lever against than wood, while protecting the box rebate. It is supplied undrilled; the photo shows two runners, but the sales unit is one piece.

✓ FITS	Hoffmann frames, in Dadant and Langstroth boxes.
✕ DOES NOT FIT	Straight-sided frames: those need a castellated spacer.

⚠ PRECAUTIONS

Plain or castellated? Look at the frame sides. If the side bars widen at the top, it is a Hoffman frame. Those wider sections meet the next frame and keep the correct spacing. Use the plain runner: it supports the lugs and lets you slide the frames during an inspection. If the sides stay the same width from top to bottom, the frame is straight-sided and needs a castellated runner or another spacer.
