01 · AT 60 °C WAX DOES NOT RUN

It melts at 62-65, so you have to go past that

Beeswax melts between 62 and 65 °C: pouring at 60 leaves you below the threshold. The wax is thick, it does not reach the bottom of each petal and the relief loses definition.

The temperature that works is 70-75 °C. There it runs and fills the detail, with margin still before the 85 °C above which wax starts to darken.

02 · HOW MUCH WAX, HOW MANY CANDLES

88 grams, about 11 per kilo

The prism the piece occupies gives a ceiling of 173 g: the 88 g quoted fit comfortably, because a heart with roses does not fill its envelope.

That works out at about 11 candles per kilo of wax. Weigh the first one to adjust — the second top-up moves the number.

03 · THE WICK HAS A SUSTAINER

Not a loose braided wick

This mould calls for a waxed wick with a metal sustainer, reference 990107 in the shop. The sustainer sits on the bottom and keeps the wick centred and upright while you pour.

Cut it longer than the mould and leave it taut and centred — a cocktail stick across the top helps — then close with bands before pouring. A spray of silicone release makes it come out cleanly.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Reckon on about 88 g of wax per candle, a sustainer wick and a second top-up on each piece.
