Details of Candle Wicking Bundle (100 units)

Pack of 100 cotton wicks, 15 cm long, pre-waxed with soy wax and fitted to a metal sustainer, declared free of paraffin and zinc.

The question you ask us most is the burn diameter, and the honest answer starts by admitting that the maker does not certify one.

01 · THE DIAMETER

It is not a calibrated series, which is why you test

These wicks do not belong to a series with a certified burn diameter, the kind with a number for each container size. They are general-purpose pre-waxed cotton wick, and what makes a steady flame depends on the whole: the wax, the diameter, the height, the mould and any colourant or fragrance you add. Printing a round number here would be inventing it.

02 · THE LIMIT PEOPLE REPORT

In beeswax, above about 5 cm they fall short

What we can tell you is what reaches us from people using them: in pure beeswax and diameters over about 50 mm, the flame stays small, the melt pool never reaches the wall and the wick ends up drowning. It makes sense: beeswax melts higher than soy or paraffin and asks for more wick at the same diameter. For candles and containers up to about 5 cm is where these do the job comfortably.

03 · THE 15 CENTIMETRES

They are cut, and the offcut is not waste

They serve candles up to 15 cm tall and any height below that: you trim them once you know where the surface will sit. The sustainer holds the wick at the bottom of the mould or container while it sets, which is half the work when you are making a batch. The piece left over is still waxed wick: keep it and reuse it on another sustainer.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Before a batch, burn one complete unit with your wax, your mould and your formulation. A weak flame or a narrow tunnel mean too little wick; a high flame and smoke mean too much.

✓ FITSCandles and container candles up to about 5 cm across, in small batches.
✕ DOESN'T FITBeeswax at large diameters: above 5 cm you want a bigger wick.
⚠ NOT INCLUDEDWax, mould or wick centring device.

Do you have any questions about Candle Wicking Bundle (100 units)?

What candle diameter is this wick suitable for?

This reference does not have a single certified burn diameter. Performance depends on the wax type, the diameter and height of the candle or container, and any fragrance or colourant added. Before making a batch, carry out a burn test with the final wax blend and container; do not assume it is suitable for 9 or 10 cm candles without testing.

Are the wicks pre-waxed and ready to use?

Yes. They are 15 cm cotton wicks, pre-waxed with soy wax and fitted with a metal sustainer. They contain no paraffin or zinc and can be cut to the required length. Even so, carry out a burn test with the final wax and container before making a batch.
