Ø 4×5 cm FINISHED CANDLE | ≈ 30 g WAX PER CANDLE |
WICK 4 RECOMMENDED SIZE | 72–75 °C BEESWAX |
A miniature straw skep with raised bees, cast with approximately 30 g of wax.
The Holtermann 13153 mould produces a compact candle approximately 4 cm in diameter and 5 cm high. Its silicone rubber captures the coils of the skep and the small bee motifs while remaining flexible enough for a controlled release.
01 · PREPARATION
Thread size 4 wick through the centre and keep it taut. Heat beeswax to 72–75 °C; Holtermann warns that going above this range may cause bubbles or deformation. Pour slowly, continuously and in one operation so the wax reaches the recessed details.
02 · RELEASE AND CARE
Cool at room temperature until the candle has hardened completely. Open the mould gently around the raised bees rather than pulling on the details. Trim the wick flush at the base and leave a working length at the top. Clean with warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft brush, dry thoroughly, then store cool, dry and undeformed.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
Size 4 is the manufacturer’s recommendation for this geometry with beeswax. Burn behaviour still changes with the wax blend, dye and finish, so run a burn test before making a production batch.
