Detalles de Wick for beeswax candles (20m on a roll)

There’s something special about turning the wax from your own hives into candles that light up winter nights. But if you’ve ever rolled a beeswax sheet around any old wick and watched the flame drown in its own wax pool… you know what I mean. Beeswax is unforgiving: either you use the right wick for beeswax candles, or the candle fails.

This square cotton wick exists precisely for that reason. It’s not a standard taper wick or an industrial one with a metallic core that smells unpleasant when burning. It’s designed specifically for pure beeswax, with a square braid and thicker filaments that give it a unique combustion behaviour.

Beeswax melts between 63 and 65 °C, much higher than soy or paraffin. This wick generates the right amount of heat to create a balanced melt pool without drowning the flame. Burns cleanly, with no black smoke, and the wax consumes evenly from the centre outwards.

Why does this wick work better?
The secret lies in the square braid. Its structure with thicker filaments provides controlled capillary action, drawing up the melted wax steadily and keeping the flame strong and stable. Round wicks behave differently and often flicker or go out with dense beeswax — not this one.

Made from 100% untreated cotton, it preserves the natural aroma of your wax. No chemical smell, no residue — just the gentle fragrance of honey and propolis that defines true handcrafted candles.

Which size do you need?
Ø 2 mm → For candles 2–3 cm in diameter. Ideal for thin rolled candles, small votives or decorative tapers.
Ø 3 mm → For candles 3–5 cm in diameter. The most versatile, perfect for standard or medium moulded candles.
Ø 5 mm → For candles 5–7 cm in diameter. Designed for large or thick candles that need a stronger flame.

Remember: The diameter directly affects wax capillary flow and flame height. Getting the right size is key for a balanced burn.

Pro tip: For conical or irregular candles, choose the wick according to the average diameter. When in doubt, go for the thicker one — a wider wax pool is better than a drowned flame.

Compatibility and use
This wick works perfectly with our liquid beeswax candle moulds (cylindrical, conical or decorative) and with rolled beeswax sheets. For moulds: thread the wick through the centre hole, tie a knot at the base, and pour in the melted wax. For rolled sheets: place the wick along the edge, press firmly and roll tightly — in three minutes, you’ll have a candle ready to light.

It also performs beautifully with fresh cappings wax from your harvest — that golden, honey-scented wax burns like butter.

Technical specifications
Material: 100% natural cotton, chemical-free.
Braid: Reinforced square section (flat braid) for pure beeswax.
Diameters: Ø 2 mm, Ø 3 mm, Ø 5 mm.
Format: 20 m roll, uncoated (you can prime it by dipping in melted wax at 70 °C).
Use: Suitable for rolled, poured and moulded candles.
Melting point range: 63–65 °C.
Yield: 20 m makes around 15–20 medium candles (depending on height and diameter).

Final note: Working with beeswax is a privilege. It’s the only candle material that purifies the air as it burns thanks to the release of negative ions. But that only happens with a proper wick. Don’t cut corners — a poor-quality wick wastes precious wax.
