Details of Melting pot for wax 1,9l

Double-walled aluminium bain-marie pot for melting wax, about 2 litres (1.9 usable) and half a kilo: the water goes between the two walls, the wax inside, and a safety valve with a plug lets the steam out. With pouring lip and Bakelite handle. Not for induction.

The bain-marie is built in: the wax never touches the flame and cannot go past 100 °C, which is what burns it in an ordinary pan.

01 · HOW TO USE IT

Distilled water in the jacket, wax inside, low heat

It is the mailbox question. Take the rubber plug out of the side valve, fill the jacket between the walls with distilled water, the only water the maker allows, put the plug back and set the pot on the heat with the wax inside. The water boils and melts the wax slowly; excess steam leaves through the valve, which is never covered. Pour from the lip and clean the wax while hot with paper.

02 · WHERE TO HEAT IT

Gas, ceramic or electric hob: not induction

It is aluminium and the maker rules it out for induction; an old answer on this page said otherwise and we have corrected it. Gas, ceramic and electric hobs, always with water in the jacket: dry, aluminium warps. The handle is Bakelite and one review broke it: a full pot is not hung from the handle.

03 · WHAT FOR

Candles, balms and moulded figures

Two litres are a batch of candles or several figure moulds, with room not to overflow; the lip controls the trickle into small moulds. Wax in pellets or pieces; for wax-melter volumes it falls short.

The pot is supplied with its plug; the rubber plug has a spare from the maker.
